Born in Copenhagen in 1990, Edith Buttingsrud Pedersen began studying ballet and modern dance in 1993 with the Ballet Academy Copenhagen. After a childhood of classical training, Edith spent 2006 exploring styles such as hip hop, jazz, house, and locking at Stepz Dance Education. Inspired by the work of Pina Bausch, DV8, Peeping Tom and Allain Platell Edith moved to Munich to study contemporary for 4 years with Iwansson International School of Contemporary Dance.
Having completed her education in 2011, Edith has been working as a dancer and choreographer in Europe, Africa & Middle East with, but not limited to, Dali Touiti (DE), Jiří Kylián/Karine Guizzo(FR/NE), Sebastian Prantll/TanzAtelier Wien (AU), Stephan Dreher (DE), Ilona Roth/Transitheart Productions (AU), Rasmus Soerinus/CampNorr/Varq de Alvo Co. Keeping up her creative investigation and practise of the complexity of the individual physicality, she is Continuously studying with different teachers such as Maya Carroll, Katie Duck and Julyen Hamilton, to mention a few. Edith is Focussing on constantly broadening her possibilities as a performer and to be curious about the unknown as well as the familiar.
In 2014 Edith truly discovered a passion for teaching & choreographing, when she Choreographed for the new opera "All the world, Goodnight" / "Alverden Godnat" along side Director Rollf Heim at the Copenhagen Opera House. Shortly after she formed Collective ONE:THIRD along side 7 iternational artists, Winner of 100 Berlin 2015 Jury Price with the piece “Fate of the Gallaxies”. Since then she has founded Company HAA, which so far has created approximately 12 productions.
In 2020 one can see the Cinema Film “Schlaff” by director Michael Venus for which Edith did the Movement Direction. Her main experience in movement on Film she gained with Partner and Co-founder of dance film-collective ZIZ.Cie, filmmaker & DOP Valquire Velkoviq. In her search for the understanding of film, behind and infront of the camera, she engaged in tv shows such as Kudamm 56, Berlin Station & various fashion films, photoshoots and Music Videos.
She is regularly giving workshops for actors and directors on body awareness, approaching a character through movement, and releasing reliance on the brain. READ
